Airlines and Commercial Aviation Research Guide

Airports

Carol M. Highsmith, photographer. National Airport, Washington, D.C., [between 1980 and 2006]. Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division.

Airports are an integral part of the commercial aviation. Generally speaking, airports bring in revenue through aeronautical revenue like the fees airports charge to airlines to use runways and taxiways and through parking and rental car fees, retail rents, and etc., but running an airport is a complicated process. The resources included on this page are only a start. We have also tried to include material that is both current and historical in nature, although our focus is on airports as they are today.

Other parts of this guide also have information related to airports. Of note are the Statistics and Periodicals & Trade Literature sections. Additionally, since many of the newly published books on the industry are being published electronically within vendor databases, see the Databases part of this guide for on-site access.
