The Committee of the Council on Trade and Plantations was established in 1784 to regulate trade between Britain, its colonies, France, and the United States. Following its reconstruction in 1786, it became known as the Board of Trade. This collection includes material relating to the United States as well as other countries and colonies, 1783-1838. For Board of Trade materials prior to 1785 see the Colonial Office series.
