The collection of material reproduced from the War Office records relating to American history dates chiefly from the Colonial and Revolutionary periods (1745-1817), with some items of relevance to the War of 1812. Correspondents include William Barrington, Guy Carleton, Alexander Cochrane, Thomas Gage, Frederick Haldimand, William Howe, William Shirley.
