Related OWI materials on the spread and classification of rumors, and jokes told by students and other citizens about the war effort are available in the World War II Rumor Project Collection in the American Folklife Center. The Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division holds nearly fifty thousand acetate disc recordings of foreign and domestic radio broadcasts used in support of the war effort which were transferred to the Library of Congress by the OWI in the U. S. Office of War Information (OWI) Collection.

Chiefly accounting records but also correspondence, letterbooks, circulars, daybooks, digest of laws, reports, indexes, newspapers, printed material, and other records produced by various offices of the Dept. of the Treasury reflecting a portion of the activities of the department. Subjects include military pay and pensions from the American Revolution and War of 1812, the Civil War, customs collection, property assessment in Washington, D.C. (1835), claims for losses to Indian property, claims resulting from hostilities with Spain in Florida, financial accounts of diplomatic agents to the Barbary States, a loan made by U.S. Congress in 1790, a direct tax levied on the states in 1798, the U.S. Commissioner of Insolvency. Of note is record of hire of the brigantine Ranger by the Continental Navy. Correspondents include Chester A. Arthur, Salmon P. Chase, John A. Dix, William Pitt Fessenden, John Mason, Hugh McCulloch, Stephen Pleasonton, and Richard Rush. Records of the U.S. Dept. of the Treasury were assembled by Manuscript Division staff from numerous accessions of Dept. of the Treasury records received by the Library of Congress from the Dept. of the Treasury and other sources over several years. Many of the records in this collection had previously been identified and cataloged by the Division as separate collections, which have since been brought together administratively to form this collection of Dept. of the Treasury records.

Also included are related documents from the Bank's affiliates, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the International Development Association (IDA). These documents provide details on the economic and social condition of countries which have received loans from the World Bank as well as information on Bank sponsored research in agriculture, transportation, and communication systems, and the distribution of natural resources in its role as the source of technical and financial assistance to developing nations. Robert McNamara was an American business executive who served as President of the World Bank from 1968 to 1981 following his service as secretary of defense under presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. Prior to public service, McNamara helped rebuild Ford Motor Company after World War II, and briefly served as Ford's President. The collection includes papers relating primarily to McNamara's private and public life following his service as secretary of defense, including his leadership of the World Bank, his role as counselor and adviser to various private corporations and nonprofit organizations and foundations. Open to research but classified, in part.

Averell Harriman was a diplomat, entrepreneur and politician who established W.A. Harriman & Co a banking business in 1922. This later turned into the highly successful Wall Street firm Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. after being joined by his brother Roland and merging with Brown Bros. & Co. He was the 11th Secretary of Commerce of the United States under President Truman. The collection includes correspondence, family papers, business records, and other papers documenting Harriman's career in business, finance, politics, and public service.

The Aldrich–Vreeland Act in 1908 established the National Monetary Commission which issued many report including the Aldrich Plan which became the basis of the Federal Reserve system. Mr. Aldrich sponsored and headed the Commission and the collection includes letters sent and received by staff members of the Commission.

Later President Calvin Coolidge named him as chairman of the Federal Farm Loan Board and in 1930 was appointed Chairman of the Federal Reserve where he served until 1933. During World War II he served on the National Defense Mediation Board and after the war was the 1st president of the World Bank. Correspondence, memoranda, minutes, diaries, oral history interviews, speeches, writings, congressional testimony, press statements, family papers, biographical material, financial records, printed matter, scrapbooks, photographs, and other papers relating to Meyer's career as a financier, public official, and publisher of the Washington Post.
