Chronicling America provides free access to millions of pages of historic American public domain newspapers. More than 3000 titles, published in 48 states and territories and the District of Columbia are available (eventual coverage will be all states and territories, 1690-1963). The Chronicling America archive can provide researchers with a window to understanding how American newspapers reported on and referenced Clara Wieck Schumann in the 19th and 20th centuries. The first mention of Clara Schumann in a Chronicling America publication is 1852, with more relevant articles appearing in the early 20th century.

Repertoire International de la Presse Musicale database provides citations to articles from over 184 nineteenth-century music periodicals. Includes writings about composers, performers, and compositions, and provides a documentary history of 19th-century music and musical life. The RIPM Archive contains 105 full-text music periodicals consisting of original volumes, reprints, microforms and photocopies of music periodicals, as well as the retrospective indexes to those music periodicals. Also accessible is the RIPM e-Library, periodicals scanned by RIPM from the collections of partner and participating libraries but not yet indexed by RIPM.
