Albright (1937-2022) was an educator, diplomat, and US secretary of state, 1997-2001. Her papers include correspondence, memoranda, speeches, writings, reports, notes, teaching files, schedules, personal memorabilia, and other papers relating to Albright's life and career in foreign policy. They document her service as a National Security Council staff member during the presidency of Jimmy Carter and as ambassador to the United Nations and secretary of state under President Bill Clinton. Also represented is her work for the Democratic Party, especially as a foreign policy advisor in the presidential campaigns of 1984 and 1988; and her activities related to Edmund S. Muskie's 1972 presidential campaign and his Senate re-election campaign in 1976. The files also document her graduate training at Columbia University, and her work as a professor at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and director of its Women in Foreign Service Program. Subjects include foreign policy issues such as arms transfer to the Middle East, a China trade agreement, foreign aid, efforts to secure ratification of the SALT II treaty, the response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and changes in Russia and Eastern and Central Europe in the 1990s.

Professional association of the US Foreign Service, founded in 1924. The records contain correspondence, memoranda, articles, editorials, essays, newspaper clippings, printed matter, photographs, and other records pertaining to the publication of the American Foreign Service Journal. The files consist chiefly of editorial correspondence to and from Foreign Service officers of all ranks, Department of State officials, publishing houses, advertisers, and contributors.

Frontline Diplomacy: The Foreign Affairs Oral History Collection of the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training
Non-profit organization founded in 1986 to promote the study and appreciation of American diplomacy. The online collection contains over 1,700 searchable transcripts of oral history interviews with career and noncareer diplomats, Foreign Service and Civil Service personnel from federal agencies involved in overseas work, spouses, and US military officers. Most of the interview transcripts involve post-World War II diplomacy, and provide a view of how foreign policy is formulated in Washington and implemented at American embassies abroad.

Bohlen (1904-1974) was a diplomat, business executive, and author. His papers include correspondence, speeches, lectures, writings, notes, research material, interviews, subject files, appointment books, photographs, and other papers relating primarily to Bohlen's diplomatic career. Included are drafts of his book Witness to History, 1929-1969 (1973) and speeches given by Bohlen during his ambassadorships to France, the Philippines, and the Soviet Union on subjects such as foreign policy and East-West relations. Also included are typescripts of addresses given by Dean Acheson; and material pertaining to peace conferences held during and after World War II.

Harriman (1891-1986) was a diplomat, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and politician. His papers include correspondence, memoranda, speeches, statements and writings, business records, political files, diplomatic accounts, scrapbooks, photographs, and other papers documenting Harriman's career in business, finance, politics, and public service, particularly during the Franklin Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, and Carter presidential administrations. Major topics include the defeat of Germany in World War II, Soviet-American relations, the Marshall Plan, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the Korean and Vietnamese wars, African independence movements, US intervention in Latin America, arms negotiations, and the antinuclear movement.

Kirk (1888-1963) was a naval officer and diplomat. His papers include correspondence, biographical material, and other papers relating primarily to Kirk's service as ambassador to Belgium (1946), as a member of the United Nations Special Committee on the Balkans (1947-1948), and as ambassador to the Soviet Union (1948-1952). Included is material relating to Kirk's trip to the Belgian Congo (1958) and to his membership in the New York State Civil Defense Commission (1956).

Simpson (1906-2010) was a diplomat. His papers contain correspondence, an oral history interview, subject files, family papers, scrapbooks, printed matter, and photographs. The collection documents his work as a labor and industrial relations expert prior to World War II; his postwar service as labor attaché in Belgium (1945-1948), Greece (1947-1949), and Mexico (1949-1953); and his roles as deputy consul general in India (1952-1954); and consul general in Mozambique (1954-1957). Simpson helped initiate the labor attaché program, which attempted to blunt communist penetration of trade unions in recently liberated western and southern European countries. Subjects include the International Labour Organisation; the portrayal of labor in the American press (1945-1954); the conduct and history of diplomacy; the recruitment and training of Foreign Service officers; and the Georgetown University Institute for the Study of Diplomacy.

Toon (1916-2009) was a diplomat. The collection consists chiefly of scrapbooks containing correspondence, printed matter, reports, ephemera, photographs, briefing books, and other papers regarding the work of the US-Russia Joint Commission on POW/MIA Affairs tracking military personnel missing from World War II, the Cold War, the Korean War, the Vietnamese conflict, and the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. Also documented are the social activities of the commissioners which included Dmitriĭ Antonovich Volkogonov and Douglas Brian (Pete) Peterson.
