Concerts from the Library of Congress: Pick of the Week

Week of November 5, 2021

This Pick of the Week features the 2021 virtual performance of Third Coast Percussion.

Third Coast Percussion - Sean Connors, Robert Dillon, Peter Martin & David Skidmore

As part of the 2021 Founder's Day concert honoring Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge, we present the fearless Third Coast Percussion, featuring the world premiere of Gemma Peacocke's The threshold we cross with closed eyes. Inspired by people's stories of arrivals at a point in history, Peacocke researched the Library's digital archive and listened to recordings of individuals’ testimonies, some featured in her work. The piece also incorporates sounds and textures drawn from Peacocke's quarantine nature walks in her native New Zealand. This video includes Peacocke’s work as an excerpt from the full concert.
