What follows is by no means an exhaustive listing of Library of Congress publications about Denmark. Some of these are published by the Government Printing Office (now the U.S. Government Publishing Office), whereas others are published by certain divisions within the Library, such as the Law Library of Congress. As a general rule, priority was given to publications that were about Denmark exclusively, or about Denmark and one other Nordic country. Published by the Law Library of Congress, this paper explains that although Danish libraries do not directly compensate authors for the borrowing of their books, public and school libraries make payments to the Dansk Forfatterfond [Danish author fund], which are then distributed in relation to the number of volumes a given author has in the applicable libraries. Published by the Law Library of Congress, this essay aims to present a selection of books and articles in English on the subject of agrarian reform in Denmark, from the origins of the movement prior to the Royal Ordinance on the Legal Status of the Tenant Farmer in 1787, up to the country's entrance into the European Community in 1973. Given the lack of English materials on agricultural and land laws prior to 1973, and a virtual absence of literature in English on the legal aspects of agrarian reform in particular, items in Danish are also cited throughout, as well as in a selected bibliography in the back matter.
Danish battues by Finn Henriksen

Published by the Law Library of Congress, this paper discusses battues, a type of hunting party that is usually lawful in Denmark. The author remarks that private woodlands are much more likely to be open to the public in Denmark, the occasion of a battue being a rare instance on which they are closed. The paper concludes by defining the hunting season for certain species, and by listing some of the restrictions pertaining to hunting in Denmark. Denmark: taxation of gasoline by Linda Forslund

The CO2 tax per liter is given in Danish kroner, as well as an estimate in United States dollars. A 25% VAT (value added tax) on gasoline is also mentioned. Overall, the author concludes, taxes on gasoline have stabilized over the previous five years in Denmark. Denmark: unemployment benefits by Fariborz Nozari

Although the unemployed may receive up to 90% of their previous wage, six days a week, there is a maximum weekly benefit. This bibliography was published between the failed attempt to purchase the Danish West Indies in 1867, under Secretary of State William Seward, and the successful effort in 1917, after which the territory became known as the U.S. Virgin Islands. National health care laws: Denmark and Norway by Linda Forslund

Report on the Scandinavian collection by Sigmund Skard

Although it is dated and focused on Norway, this report nonetheless provides a sound introduction to the other Scandinavian collections at the Library of Congress, such as the Danish. Written by Sigmund Skard, a Norwegian Consultant of the Library of Congress in Scandinavian Culture, the report does a good job highlighting the strengths and weaknesses in the collecting of Scandinavian books since the Library's inception. The right to privacy and the issue of defamation under Danish law by Fariborz Nozari
