It serves both as a historical archive and an archive of the public administration of the Dominican Republic. The Pedro Henríquez Ureña National Library is the central library of the Dominican Republic. Responsible for compiling, collecting, preserving, and promoting the bibliographic legacy of the Dominican Republic and its authors. Academic organization that focuses on the scholarship of the Caribbean Basin which includes Central America, the Caribbean Coast of Mexico, as well as Venezuela, Colombia, Northeast Brazil and the three Guianas. A History of Dominican Music in the U.S. is the first open-source digital tool narrating the history of Dominican music as it developed during the past century in the United States. By presenting multi-media resources, grounded in historical contexts and speaking to larger issues of immigration, identity, and diversity, this online platform provides a new approach to understanding Dominican music. Includes primary source documents and resources available at the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute Archives and Library, along with including a narrative history timeline, map, genre guides, and stories.

The Opening the Archives Dominican Republic Project makes U.S. government documents available about the Dominican Republic during the Cold War years of the 1960s and 1970s. Student researchers, under the leadership of Professor James N. Green (Williams College) and René Cordero (Brown University) have scanned and indexed thousands of records from archives, including the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library and the National Archives II in College Park, Maryland to make them available to the public. The project is also designed to encourage Dominicans to have fuller access to information of the history of their country and its relationship to the United States.
