Getting Started
This section of the guide will orient you to the Veterans History Project (VHP) website and show you how to access VHP's online database. You can use the VHP online database to locate a particular veteran's collection or to find collections which address a broader research topic, such as World War II veterans.
The Veterans History Project (VHP) Website
The VHP website provides general information about the project, how to participate, materials in support of creating oral histories, and guidance for researchers.
Follow the link above to access the VHP website, or enter www.loc.gov/vets in your browser's address bar. This will bring you to the homepage for the Veterans History Project.
Accessing the VHP Database
From the Veterans History Project website, select "Search the Veterans Collections" to begin your research. The online database contains collection records for every veteran's collection at the Library of Congress.
Use the link above, or select "Search the Veterans Collections" as highlighted in the screenshot below. This will bring you to the Search and Browse menus for VHP's online database.
