The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) which was founded in 1974 produces independent analyses of budgetary and economic issues to support the Congressional budget process.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office, previously known as the General Accounting Office (GAO), is an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress and investigates and reports on how the government spends its money.

Each February when the President releases his Budget for the following year, Treasury releases the General Explanations of the Administration's Revenue Proposals (also known as the Greenbook) providing additional information about the Administration's budget proposals. Treasury maintains them beginning in FY1990.

This is a Library of Congress system formerly referred to as Thomas that makes congressional bills and reports available to the public. At the top there is an easy link to Appropriations legislation. The default is for the current fiscal year but this list is available going back to 2011, and appropriation information may be searched as far back as 1973. Under "Bill Searches and Lists" there is a canned search for Appropriations legislation.

The Combined Statement is recognized as the official publication of receipts and outlays with which all other reports containing similar data must be in agreement. It presents budgetary results at the summary and detail level. It is part of a triad of publications that includes: the "Monthly Treasury Statement," a report of the government receipts and outlays that is based on agency reporting, and the "Daily Treasury Statement," summarizing data on the cash and debt operations of the Treasury based on reporting of the Treasury account balances of the Federal Reserve banks.

This data come from the Department of Treasury's Fiscal Service. The federal budget is divided into approximately 20 categories, known as budget functions. These categories organize federal spending into topics based on their purpose (e.g., National Defense, Transportation, and Health). The data comes from the Monthly Treasury Statement (MTS).

The dashboard was launched on June 1, 2009, which provided Federal agencies and the public with the ability to view details of Federal information technology (IT) investments online and to track their progress over time. The IT Dashboard displays data received from agency IT Portfolio and Business Case reports. The IT Budget is composed of three parts:
Agency IT Portfolio Summary (previously the Exhibit 53A), which includes IT investment budget and architecture information
Agency Provisioned Spending Summary (previously the Exhibit 53C and Cloud Spending Summary), which includes IT investment budget information by cloud computing deployment model and service model
IT Infrastructure Spending Summary, which details the spending of all IT infrastructure that the agency owns and operates or obtains via services

This page is predominantly about government contracts. It was created by the "Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA) of 2006" which required that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) establish a single searchable website, accessible to the public at no cost, which includes details for each Federal award (prime and sub contractors). It is also a good source for determining this type of government spending by agency, prime awardee and location (state, congressional district).

This title provides a record of all foreign assistance provided by the United States to the rest of the world. It is a companion to the agency's annual report to Congress. Detailed information goes back to 1946. Past and current volumes are available via USAID's Development Experience Clearinghouse. More current data is found with the Foreignassistance.gov site from 2001-.

Since 1823, the secretary of the Senate has published the semiannual statements covering the periods from October 1st to March 31st and April 1st to September 30th of each year. The Report is for those looking for spending for Senate office and has been on the web sine 2010.

The Report is for those looking for spending for House office. It is a quarterly public report of all receipts and expenditures for U.S. House of Representatives Members, Committees, Leadership, Officers and Offices. The House has been required by law to publish the SOD since 1964.
