Alejandro Mayorkas

Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, was impeached by the House in 2024 on charges of high crimes and misdemeanors related to the United States' southern border. The impeachment included two articles: willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law and breach of the public trust. After his impeachment in the House, the Senate dismissed the charges against him on April 17, 2024.

The House first debated the resolution to impeach Secretary Mayorkas on February 6, 2024, but that vote failed 214-216. On February 13, 2024, the House resumed consideration and approved the articles of impeachment by a vote of 214-213. The Senate received the articles of impeachment on April 16, 2024, and began trial proceedings on the following day.
