Below are the Library's holdings of many French feminist publications (both historical and contemporary). Because there are always new publications coming out, curators of the Library's collections are always in the process of updating and building the collections. It should be noted that many feminists and activists are functioning outside the world of academe, and therefore it is also important to search for artists, journalists, podcast hosts and authors publishing outside the scholarly world. The growing accessibility of digital media has transformed the methods of communication and organization among French feminists from a primarily physical print culture to a born-digital culture of feminist communications. Along with the rise of social media in the mid-2000s, contemporary feminist activists and educators in France have access to a wider audience. Feminist issues have become more widely supported in France than at any other point in history, and feminism as an area of study and discourse has expanded to engage with other disciplines intersectionally. Scholarship is keeping a pulse on the currents in popular culture and the cross fertilization that ensues will broaden the movement to be inclusive and fresh.
The Library of Congress collects both scholarly and popular feminist tracts in an effort to represent the full spectrum of the feminist movement. The Bibliothèque nationale de France's digital library, Gallica, has a comprehensive collection of digitized French feminist publications, Presse feminist External.
