Iconography is a category within pictorial and visual materials. In Music Division collections, you will find many formats of iconography:
Many Music Division finding aids contain categories of documents like "iconography," "photographs," "artwork," etc. One example is the Gertrude Clarke Whittall Foundation Collection on Nicolò Paganini; the first series is Iconography.
Some special collections consist entirely of iconography in one or a variety of formats. The Laszlo Krausz Portraits of Musicians contains pen and charcoal portraits, whereas the Eric Johnson collection of Ernest Bloch Photographs exclusively contains iconography in the black and white photographic print format.
