The PALABRA Archive (Archive of Hispanic Literature on Tape) at the Library of Congress dates back to 1943. It contains nearly eight-hundred recordings of poets and prose writers participating in sessions at the Library’s Recording Laboratory and at other locations around Spain and Latin America. To date, writers from thirty-four countries are represented in this collection which includes readings in various languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, French, Náhuatl, Zapotec, English and Dutch.
Only a limited number of recordings are available online. Browse through the names in this link for the complete list of Caribbean authors and poets in the PALABRA Archive. If you are able to visit us in the Hispanic Reading Room, we can offer some help to access the rest of the recordings.
