A fun book of tricks an accountant can use in their everyday bookkeeping. Also comes with some amusing arithmetic ruses for everyone to practice.

This bibliography, created by Walter Hausdorfer, a scholar and librarian at Temple University, contains books and titles related to the method of accounting though the author indicates in his preface that some other important treatises were included. It seems that the author did not include European works after 1801 due to the sheer number unless they were reprinted or adapted in the Americas. Hausdorfer also indicates that the cut-off for works is 1910 because he felt that there was a new wave of accounting beginning about that time. There was an attempt to determine locations of individual items at the time of publication when possible. Part III covers printed works and manuscripts, Part IV focusses on accounting and bookkeeping periodicals, Part V is a chronological index to first printed works and manuscripts, Part VI lists bibliographies and biographies, Part VII is a bibliography of accounting history, and lastly Part VIII is a subject index.

This is a general history of accounting practice rather than of the profession. It includes a section on the history of double-entry bookkeeping and then moves from bookkeeping into accountancy. This was originally published in 1933 and there was an edition published in 1981.

This title is intended to complement the works by Bentley and Leonard as well as McMickle and Jensen (see elsewhere). There are reprints of several works including those from George Fisher, Charles Hutton, Thomas Sarjeant, Samuel Freeman, Thomas Dilworth, and Rev. Richard Turner.

Single-entry Accounting in Early America: The Accounts of the Hasbrouck Family. Accounting Historians Journal, vol. 31, no. 1;, 141-174.

Volume one covers the years 1796-1900 and volume two covers the years 1901-1934. Both volumes have an author index while volume 2 has a subject index. There are reprints for this title in 1970 and a one volume edition in 2005.

This title was heavily influenced by the work by Harry C. Bentley and Ruth S. Leonard - "Bibliography of Works on Accounting by American Authors." There is an explanation on how this book is different from the Bentley Leonard title that may be helpful in understanding that title as well.

A bookkeeping and accountancy lesson book. "The elementary part presenting its principles in an easy, clear, and demonstrative order, in strict conformity to the recognized principles of teaching, as manifested in our most popular school books." A version was also printed in 1853.

This title is the second part to "The Young Merchant's Manual or Practical Book-Keeper." A method used to better obtain, and analyze, a merchant's accounts.

A textbook for bookkeeping featuring illustrative examples. "Set A exhibits the ordinary method by single entry; the sets no. 1 and 2 are used in connection with apparatus to illustrate the principles of double entry; the sets no. 3, 4 and 5, exhibit the application of these principles to ordinary mercantile transactions; no. 6 applies the same principles to the transactions of the farm; no. 7 applies them to those of the work-shop or factory; and no. 8, to those of a special partnership. The closing sections contain the most valuable methods of contraction in arithmetic, together with various mercantile forms."

This book has the "elementary principles reduced to the form of a science" and it is "designed as a handbook for schools and teachers' institutions." It focused on the double-entry method and is divided into two parts Part I holding the principles of book-keeping and part II the forms and details of book-keeping.

It also contains a brief summary of the history of accounting books and its authors. Editions were also printed in 1891, 1895, 1903, 1906, and 1911.

This bookkeeping book describes itself as "based entirely on practice in existence, and the largest work on the science of accounts ever published." It contains numerous practice problems for the learner. Joint authors are J.M. Phillips and Robert C. Scott.

A guide explaining some of the terms and rules merchants should follow from the basic accounting rules to the more specific.

This title is intended as a manual for merchants on bookkeeping, i.e. to keep records of their accounts.
