If you did not find a newspaper title in the collections of the Library of Congress, or in other online catalogs, you might find information about it in one of the printed bibliographies listed below. You can also look for more information about a title of interest, and perhaps discover if further issues were published, whether there are supplements for certain years, whether it changed name or frequency, and similar questions. Most bibliographies can also help researchers find periodicals for given subjects, published in certain towns, or related to specific editors or publishers. Some bibliographies also show timelines, so one can find all the titles published during a given period. Below are lists of the bibliographies of Hungarian newspapers that are available at the Library of Congress at this time.
We provide links to resources freely available online where applicable, and we also collected the online resources in one place.
Online catalogs are the most easily accessible sources for current information. For Hungary, the most comprehensive source for current periodicals is Magyar nemzeti bibliográfia új periodikumok, a quarterly online journal that contains bibliographic records of newly launched periodicals and periodicals that underwent title changes, that are published in Hungary, and were received or purchased by the National Széchény Library.
