The descriptions refer to three relevant academic journals: Carte Italiane and the Italian Quarterly, both published by the Department of Italian at the University of California, Los Angeles; and, the Stanford Italian Review, published by the Department of French and Italian at Stanford University in Saratoga. Notes: Italian Quarterly was first published by the Department of Italian at the University of California in Los Angeles. Starting in 1974 with volume 18, numbers 69, it was in Boston by the University of Massachusetts. Finally, since 1980, starting with volume 21, number 79, it is being published still currently by the Department of Italian at Rutgers University (see in this same section of the guide under New Jersey, serials 1951-2010). It provides articles on contributions on Italian literature and culture, including film, literary translations, and original poetry or prose in Italian.
