Noteworthy Italian American periodicals from the state of Michigan are highlighted in this section of the guide. The three periodicals described on this page La Voce del Popolo, La Tribuna del Popolo, The Italian Tribune were published in Detroit and Warren, Michigan. They continued one another throughout the twentieth century and The Italian Tribune is still being published today.

Notes: La Voce del Popolo started as a weekly paper founded in 1910 and edited by Monsignor Joseph Ciarrocchi, pastor of the Church of Saint Mary, the main Italian immigrant parish in Detroit. The paper and Ciarrocchi's activism constituted the center of the antifascist movement among Italian Americans in Detroit. In 1970, La Voce del Popolo, merged with La Tribuna Italiana del Michigan, becoming La Tribuna del Popolo (see in this same section of the guide under Michigan periodicals, Serials 1951-2010).

Notes: La Tribuna del Popolo started as La Tribuna Italiana del Michigan founded in 1909 by Vincent Giuliano and his wife Maria. In 1910, the latter ceased and became La Tribuna Italiana d'America (Italian Tribune of America). In 1970, it merged with La Voce del Popolo run by Msgr. Joseph Ciarrocchi, pastor of the Church of Santa Maria in Detroit (see La Voce del Popolo in this same section of the guide under Michigan periodicals, Serials 1860-1920). At this point, it became The Italian Tribune-La Tribuna del Popolo still run by Vincent Giuliano until his death in 1962. Eventually, his grandson Edward Baker took over and it stayed under the Giuliani/Baker family's direction for four generations.
