Notes: Cronaca Sovversiva was an anarchist newspaper printed weekly except from March to May 1919, when it was printed monthly in Washington DC. Founded and directed by the Italian-born anarchist Luigi Galleani (1861-1931), it was associated with the Circolo Studi Sociali (Center for Social Studies) in Barre, VT, to which the anarchist and Galleani's friend Andrea Salsedo belonged. Galleani was deported to Italy by American authorities in 1919, where he published a few more issues of the periodical (Turin, Italy, Jan. 17, 1920-Oct. 2, 1920) until it was suppressed. The newspaper contained ideological arguments in favor of direct action against governments. Its circulation peaked at around 5,000.
