Stanley Kubrick's Photographs for LOOK Magazine, 1946-1950 (Library of Congress)

Photo Subjects & Sample Images

Some of the larger Stanley Kubrick jobs (photo assignments) held by the Prints and Photographs Division include images of Peggy Lee, Montgomery Clift, the University of Michigan, Chicago, the Lake Bluff (IL) Children’s Home, and an endurance contest called the Speed Derby.

The collections of the Library's Prints & Photographs (P&P) Division comprise 102 of Kubrick’s assignments for LOOK Magazine, while the Museum of the City of New York (MCNY) holds 129. And, in some cases, a job was split between the Library of Congress and MCNY. In most of these cases, the majority of the split job is held by MCNY, with a small number of contact sheets at the Library of Congress. There are 17 jobs that are split between P&P and the MCNY.
