This page provides search strategies and a selection of recommended resources related to LGBTQ+ periodicals and newspapers. Periodicals and newspapers represent some of the earliest publishing opportunities available to LGBTQ+ people. As such, these resources can provide early primary-source accounts on a variety of topics.

Since the term "homosexual" is a relatively recent term, you will want to first attempt to figure out what terms were being employed during your era of research. For example, if I was researching lesbians through various time periods I might want to use additional vernacular and historical terms, such as: invert, butch, femme, tribade, sapphic, amazons, lavender menace...
