Map's intention is to illustrate the extensive port possibilities of Culebra Island and its adjacent islands. Notes in support of the claim read: "The whole will accomodate the Navies of France & England combined.", "This small Harbor will accomodate 54 of the largest Vessels", "Large Harbor Will accomodate the following Vessels, 170 Vessels 4,000 tons, 200 Vessels 2,000 tons, 300 Vessels ordinary." In further support of this claim, the map depicts numerous ships cluttering the intended harbor facilities.

This detailed French plan for a proposed railroad to extend from San Juan to Mayaguez contains five segments: two separate profiles of the segment of the railroad from San Juan to Bayamón, two topographical plans of the same segment with sections in kilometers, and one cut away of a track segment. In the general right-of-way area, map includes roads, streams, contour lines, buildings, stations, individual landowners, haciendas, and pictorial representation of vegetation. When placed end to end, the segments measure almost 100 feet in length.

Map includes population table, distance chart, and extensive notes about the "Caminos Reales". Population figures for parishes are divided into the following categories: "communicants", "veterans", and "militia". Within the table is found a note which reads: "Under the Name of Communicants are included Men Women and Children from seven years of age and upwards, Whites Blacks and Mulattoes, and are all that are on the whole Island; But as there are many Women, Children and old Men, there cannot be reckoned above 3200 of all colours (or rather less) capable to bear Arms.
