Missouri State Archives is the official repository for state records of permanent and historical value. Its mission is to foster an appreciation of Missouri history and illuminate contemporary public issues by preserving and making available the state's permanent records to its citizens and their government.
This site was created with support from Congressionally-directed Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grants in 2005 and 2009. IMLS is the primary source of federal support for the nation's 123,000 libraries and 17,500 museums.
The fundamental purpose of the NPS is to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations. The NPS provides highlights, statistics, and a list of national parks for Missouri.
The State Historical Society of Missouri is the premier research center for the study of Missouri state and local history. Founded in 1898 by the Missouri Press Association and a trustee of the State of Missouri since 1899, the Society preserves and provides access to reference materials and historical collections through research centers.
The University of Missouri created the Western Historical Manuscript Collection in 1943 with the mission to collect, preserve, and make available to prospective users records that illuminate the history of Missouri.
