The following two lists of uncataloged and cataloged Moldovan directories represent Library of Congress holdings as of May 2021.

The type of telephone directory is indicated by "Org." for organizational, "Res." for residential, or "Both" for directories that include both business and private numbers.

Most of the telephone directories are in Russian and use Cyrillic letters for the names of organizations and individuals. For the purposes of this list, titles are transliterated into Latin letters using the Library of Congress transliteration system.

A number of the uncataloged telephone directories for Moldova featured in this guide are located on Deck 5S of the closed stacks in the Adams Building and readers can request the items in the Main Reading Room by completing a call slip or asking a reference librarian in the European Reading Room. Other uncataloged directories were received as a generous donation of telephone directories from Miriam Weiner and are being processed and held for the time being in the European Reading Room. They can be requested in our reading room, or by contacting us online.

Also in the European Reading Room researchers may consult the 1996 book Nomenclatorul on the administrative territorial organization of Moldova, and the current spellings of the names of towns in the country.

The list of Other directories starts with the most complete survey of Greater Romania during the interwar period Anuarul "Socec" al României-Mari, or "Socec," published in Bucuresti from 1922-1923. The digitized version of the second volume contains information on what is today the territory of the Republic of Moldova,and it also has a finding aid.

All our materials may be requested prior to a researcher's visit through Ask a Librarian as well. This way the materials will be ready for use in the reading room when the researchers arrive.
