Monastery Manuscripts Collections: A Resource Guide

Digitized Manuscripts

Newly-Discovered Texts

During the digitization process, additional manuscripts were discovered on the microfilm – manuscripts which were not listed in the checklist of 1952. These include Greek 1226 (a sticherarion), fragments of Psalms 105-108, Archimandrite Antonin Kapustin’s handwritten catalog of Sinai manuscripts from 1870, and a collection of Russian language catalogs of the Sinai manuscripts which appears to have been used by the microfilming expedition while onsite. Since the three last manuscripts had no manuscript number, the Library of Congress has assigned them manuscript numbers as follows:

  • Fragments of Psalms: MS SUPPL1
  • Kapustin Catalog: MS SUPPL2
  • Russian Catalogs: MS SUPPL3
