Moving Image Research at the Library of Congress

Manuscript Materials

Warren K. Leffler, photographer. TV monitor at WRC-TV 1964 summer Olympics from Tokyo. 1964. Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division.

In addition to film, the Moving Image Research Center holds a number of paper and manuscript items related to film and television. Our collection of paper materials includes continuities, scripts, tie-in-books, scrapbooks, press releases, newsreel summaries, publicity notebooks, press books, lobby cards, theater programs, production notes, and much more. These items have been acquired through copyright deposit, purchased, or gifted to the division.

An extensive inventory of these materials is available below. Boxes listed in the inventory can only be accessed on-site in the Moving Image Research Center at the Library of Congress by advanced appointment. The majority of boxes are stored on-site in the Research Center. Additional boxes are stored at the National Audiovisual Conservation Center in Culpeper, VA and require 7-10 days to be pulled from storage and delivered to the reading room. When requesting material, please include the box number, the box title, and a brief description of your project.
