Although maps of potential value for Amerindian studies are scattered geographically throughout the division's collections, they fall by and large within a number of subject categories related to the Indians' physical, historical, and cultural environments.  Some maps overlap into more than one category, but the following themes with a list of related maps should furnish researchers with a guide to the various Indian-related materials located among the cartographic collections:
