Below are the sources that were used to verify bibliographic information for newspapers from North Macedonia and its diaspora. The first source consulted is the Library of Congress Online Catalog, but printed bibliographies also are useful. The most comprehensive print title on this topic is Pregled na makedonskiot pečat (1885-1992), by Boro Mokrov. For the Yugoslav communist era, the part of the national bibliography that covers serials is the most complete: Bibliografija jugoslovenske periodike: Spisak listova i časopisa štampanih na teritoriji FNRJ and Bibliografija Jugoslavije: Serijske publikacije. These are the second and third titles described below with links to fuller bibliographic information in the Library of Congress Online Catalog.

Online catalogs usually are the best sources for the most current information. For North Macedonia, the most comprehensive source is the Virtual Library of Macedonia External in Skopje, which is a combined online catalog of many libraries in North Macedonia.
