Oil and Gas Industry: A Research Guide

News and Analysis

A number of trade publications, magazines, and academic journals focus on current news and analysis in the oil & gas industry. The following alphabetical list of publications link to the Library of Congress catalog print holdings. When some articles are freely available through the publisher's website, the link is provided. Many of them may be available electronically through database access: Use the Library of Congress e-journal search for publication titles to find full text access in our subscription databases.

Subscription Databases

Use databases to browse for collections of periodicals or to search for articles on a specific topic. A more extensive list of oil and gas related databases is within this guide, but below highlights some publisher-specific databases. The subscription resources marked with a padlock  are available to researchers on-site at the Library of Congress. If you are unable to visit the Library, you may be able to access these resources through your local public or academic library.

Research Centers' Publications

Unlike periodicals, which are published regularly and contain both news and scholarly analysis, research reports are published irregularly by agencies and research centers.

Use the Gale Directory Library database listed below to search their Research Centers Directory publication for additional centers that study oil, natural gas, or energy resources.
