This section features secondary sources available at the Library of Congress related to the study of Old Church Slavic and the recensions of Church Slavic, including language learning materials, such as dictionaries and grammars, and general works on the history of printing in Church Slavic. Also highlighted are catalogs at the Library of Congress describing other major Church Slavic collections throughout Europe. The secondary sources are in English as well as a variety of other languages, including Russian, Czech, Ukrainian, Serbian, Croatian and Bulgarian.

The secondary sources about Old Church Slavic and Church Slavic at the Library of Congress reflect the long-standing tradition of scholarship devoted to those languages. The collection encompasses materials from as early as the seventeenth century. The Rare Book & Special Collections Reading Room, for example, has the third edition of one of the first comprehensive grammars of Old Church Slavic, published in 1648 in Kremenets, a city in present-day western Ukraine. In regard to more contemporary sources, the Library has many of the essential resources for the topic, including Slovnik jazyka staroslovenskeho, the standard dictionary of Old Church Slavic published in Prague beginning in 1958.
