According to the 1911 Annual Report of the Librarian of Congress, the musical parameters of the Music Division’s opera transcript project were provisionally broadened as “…a beginning was made of transcripts of rare Viola da gamba music.” Included in this section is a relatively small collection of instrumental works copied over a two-year period as well as other transcriptions that do not fall under the heading of dramatic vocal music.
