The Music Division holds a variety of reference titles of interest to conductors and researchers. Holdings cover past through most recent editions of works as well as out-of-print titles. Reference resources include bibliographies of orchestral repertoire, biographical dictionaries of conductors, dictionaries and encyclopedias of conducting terminology, professional periodicals, and programming guides.

The League of American Orchestras is a professional organization for conductors, orchestra musicians, and orchestra administrators. It was founded as the American Symphony Orchestra League in 1942. The Music Division holds print titles published by the organization since its founding that provide reference information about the profession, activities of member ensembles, major conducting figures, and more.
