Naxos Music Library (NML) is the worlds largest online classical music library. Currently, it offers streaming access to more than 85,000 CDs, standard and rare repertoire. Over 800 new CDs are added to the library every month. NML offers the complete Naxos and Marco Polo catalogues plus the complete catalogues or selected titles from over 378 classical, jazz and world music labels with more labels joining every month. TJD Online provides information starting from 1896 on over 192,000 jazz recording sessions covering all categories of jazz and other creative improvised music, including Traditional, Swing, Bop, Modern, Avant-Garde, Fusion, Third Stream, and related genres. Jazz Discography contains a detailed listing of recording sessions, each with specific information: Leader name (or Group name) Published album title Group name Musicians, with instrument(s) played Location and date of recording session Tune names, including matrix and release numbers for 78 & 45 rpm, LPs, CDs & DLs. The database includes:

Classical Music Library is a comprehensive database of distinguished classical recordings. It includes tens of thousands of licensed recordings that users can listen to on the Internet. Selections range from the earliest Gregorian chants to works by modern composersincluding symphonic music, vocal and instrumental music, choral works, and other forms. Content is published under licensing agreements with more than 30 music labels, including major labels and independents, with ongoing license negotiations adding to the range of available tracks. The audio selections are cross-referenced to a database of supplementary reference information. Rock's Backpages (RBP) is the biggest online database of rock music writing in the world. RBP covers all types of popular music from the 1950s to the present, from Abba to Zappa, the Stones to the Stone Roses and from Elvis to Eminem. Sourced from the pages of the US and UK music and mainstream press and including the widest possible range of publications--from Creem and Trouser Press to Rolling Stone, and from New Musical Express and Melody Maker to MOJO--RBP is a massive library of articles (reviews, interviews, features and more) from the early 1960s right up to the present day. In addition to published articles, the library includes previously unpublished pieces about The Beatles (by Michael Lydon in 1966), The Doors (by Lester Bangs in 1975), and seminal interviews with major artists from Bob Dylan to Radiohead (exclusive mp3 audio files of original source interviews). Show Music on Record is an updated digital version of the definitive reference source by Jack Raymond, first published in 1982. It provides a reference list of recordings of songs from American shows (and of foreign shows that played in America) as performed by members of original, revival, and studio casts. Included are shows produced for the American stage, screen, and television, as well as foreign musical films that played in America. It also includes records of composers performing their own show songs and selected other recordings of related interest. The recordings listed come from various commercially-released show music recordings, starting with those captured on early cylinders in the late 19th century and continuing through compact disc productions of the early 21st century.

Oxford Music Online includes The Oxford Companion to Music (2002) The Oxford Dictionary of Music, Second Edition, Revised (2006) and Grove Music Online, which comprises The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, 2nd Edition (2001), The New Grove Dictionary of Opera (1992), and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, 2nd Edition (2001). The database contains articles on music history, music theory and practice, musical terminology, instruments and their history, and the music of various locations ranging from continents to units as small as a city. Also contains biographies of composers, performers and writers on music, as well as historic and current figures associated with the art and business of music. Extensive work lists and bibliographies conclude most articles. Other features include links to sound examples via partnerships with Classical Music Library and DRAM, links to the RILM database of music bibliography, and biographical linking to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.

The card catalog that is the foundation of this online database was first created by Work Projects Administration (WPA) workers in the late 1930s and early 1940s, and continued by the Archive of Folk Song (now part of the American Folklife Center) staff into the early 1960s. Its purpose was to provide the public with access to the thousands of individual songs, tunes, folk tales, sermons, monologues, and life stories in the Archive's collections.
Included are the seminal field recordings associated with John A. Lomax and Alan Lomax's Library of Congress collecting work (Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Jelly Roll Morton), and Alan Lomax's less well-known field collections in Haiti in 1936 to 1937 and in the upper Midwest of the United States in 1938. There are hundreds of well-known and lesser-known treasures by other notable collectors including Herbert Halpert, Zora Neale Hurston, Henrietta Yurchenco, Vance Randolph, and Helen Creighton, among many others. The catalog also reflects exchange projects with institutions outside the United States, notably the Discoteca Pública Municipal de São Paulo (1938-1943) of field recordings from Brazil; and field recordings collected in Oceania. This searchable database provides bibliographic information on approximately 34,000 ethnographic sound recordings, most of which were recorded between 1933 and 1950.
