Russell Maret is an American letterpress printer, type designer, artist, and author who has published over 60 books and designed several typefaces.

In 1989 Maret moved from New York to San Francisco to study poetry at the New College of California. Shortly after arriving, Maret discovered the school's basement printshop where he had his “first profound experience of love at first sight.” During his time in California, Maret apprenticed under Bay Area printer Peter Koch and worked at the Press in Tuscany Alley. In 1993 Maret moved back to New York to begin his first press, Kuboaa; he says he’s been printing and publishing ever since.

Maret has been a printer-in-residence at the Press in Tuscany Alley in San Francisco and the Bodleian Libraries Bibliographical Press in Oxford. He has also been an artist-in-residence at the Center for Books Arts in New York. Maret is active in several professional organizations related to fine printing and book arts. He is the North American Vice Chair of the Fine Press Book Association and is a trustee of the American Printing History Association. He is also on the board of directors of the CODEX Foundation. In 2010, Maret was awarded the Rome Prize in Design by the American Academy in Rome.

Some of Maret's most recent publications include Three Constitutions (2021), A Pattern Book of Cádiz Ornaments (2021), and Dispatches from the Lizard Brain: A Descriptive Bibliography of Ninja Press (2022). All three of these titles, and many more, can be viewed in the Rare Book Reading Room in the Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress.
