Russian Collections at the Library of Congress: An Overview

Publications about the Russian Collections

Various staff or divisions of the Library of Congress compiled or researched topics related to Russia, beginning shorty after the acquisition of the Yudin Collection in 1906. During the Cold War era, the Library took the lead to produce basic reference tools about the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. These research efforts continue in more recent times with articles on the historical development of the Russian collection and special topics and acquisitions. This page gathers those materials together and either reproduces them in their entirety or links to freely available digital copies. Titles link to fuller bibliographic information in the Library of Congress Online Catalog. Items linked to pdf copies are immediately below, whereas articles reproduced in their entirety each are presented on their own page (see the menu at the left). Additional titles produced by the Law Library of Congress are included in the Guide to Law Online: Russia under the section "Legal Guides - Law Library of Congress Resources."

Publications are arranged on this page in the following sections:

Bibliographies and Reference Aids on Russian/Soviet Topics

Miscellaneous Monographic Publications on Russia and the USSR

Articles and Chapters on Russian/Soviet Topics
