The Prints and Photographs Reading Room boasts a wide range of holdings of Russian photographs, posters, postcards and other visual material.
The flagship Russian collection in the Prints and Photographs Reading Room is the color photographs by Sergei Prokudin-Gorskii (1863-1944), who captured images of the Russian empire between 1905 to 1915. Another large collection of photographs available online is the Brumfield collection. William C. Brumfield, Professor of Russian studies at Tulane University, spent several years documenting the architecture of Siberia. His collection features over 1,100 photographs from such cities as Perm, Tobol'sk and Tomsk. The collection can be viewed here:

The Prints and Photographs Reading Room also has several unprocessed collections of Russian and Soviet posters which are grouped thematically. A standout resource, although not consisting of posters per se, is the Winokur-Munbilt collection of Russian Empire postcards. This incredible assortment of historic postcards has over 25, 250 items, featuring scenes from cities and regions across the Russian empire and later Soviet Union.
