The realm of science fiction has evolved over time to include many ideas, but the gist is that this genre includes technological advancements that have yet to be made. Time travel and long-distance space flight are some of the most common themes and while these haven't come to pass, the theories behind these and other science fiction ideas have been in place for quite some time.
