Science and film have gone hand in hand since the beginning. Movies about aliens, space travel, time travel, fantasy and futuristic worlds have captivated audiences for decades. Sometimes they get the science right and sometimes they get it very wrong. In recent years movie and television studios have worked with scientists to try to get some of the aspects of the science right. From space travel in Interstellar, The Martian and The Expanse, to the aerodynamics of broom flight in Harry Potter to time travel in Outlander. Each of these has some basis in science, and even as unrealistic as some of them may seem, one day the science will catch up and the fantasy may become reality.
