Introduction

On June 27, 2018, Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy announced that he would retire effective July 31, 2018, creating a vacancy on the Supreme Court of the United States. On July 10, 2018, President Trump announced the nomination of Brett M. Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh was confirmed on October 6, 2018.
