The American Archive of Public Broadcasting (AAPB) is an unprecedented initiative to preserve and make accessible significant historical public television and radio programs, and to coordinate a national effort to save at-risk public media content before it is lost to posterity. To date, approximately 68,000 items comprising 40,000 hours of programming from the 1950s to the present have been digitized for long-term preservation.The collection contains thousands of high quality programs that have had national impact. The vast majority of this initial American Archive content, however, consists of regional and local programs selected by more than 100 stations and archives across the United States that document American communities during the last half of the twentieth century and the first decade of the twenty-first. This extraordinary collection includes news and public affairs programs, local history productions, and programs dealing with education, science, music, art, literature, dance, poetry, environmental issues, religion, and even filmmaking on a local level.

American Doctoral Dissertations, is an open-access database built to assist researchers in locating both historic and contemporary dissertations and theses. Created with the generous support of the H. W. Wilson Foundation and the Congregational Library & Archives in Boston, it incorporates EBSCO?s previously released American Doctoral Dissertations, 1933-1955, and features additional dissertation metadata contributed by select American colleges and universities. Providing researchers with citations to graduate research across a broad span of time, from the early 20th century to the present, this database will continue to grow through regular updates and new partnerships with graduate degree-granting institutions. The subset of this database, American Doctoral Dissertations, 1933-1955, provides electronic access to the only comprehensive record of dissertations completed during that time period, the print index Doctoral Dissertations Accepted by American Universities. Containing twenty-two years of dissertation research and amounting to nearly 100,000 citations, this index was compiled annually for the National Research Council and The American Council of Learned Societies by the Association of Research Libraries. It was published by the H. W. Wilson Company.

More than 3000 titles, published in 48 states and territories and the District of Columbia are available (eventual coverage will be all states and territories, 1690-1963). The headlines, articles and advertisements capture the life and times of the American people, shining new light on historic events as they unfolded. A non-profit initiative dedicated to digitizing collections of classic media periodicals that belong in the public domain for full public access. The project is supported by owners of materials who loan them for scanning, and donors who contribute funds to cover the cost of scanning. Over 200,000 pages have been currently scanned, and that number is growing. The collections feature extensive runs of several important trade papers and fan magazines.
