This guide offers information for researchers of the economy of Ukraine and Ukrainian businesses including print and online resources, subscription databases, online news sources, and business directories. However, the guide is not a comprehensive list of all available and reliable resources that could be used for research purposes.
The war in Ukraine that started in February 2022 has caused destruction and chaos in every aspect of Ukrainian life. Many of the resources in this guide provide historical context to what is happening today. The online resources cited include those maintained by the Ukrainian government, U.S. government agencies, international organizations, business associations, and news agencies. The guide consists of mostly English language resources, though the Library's collection has a wealth of materials on the subject in Ukrainian, Russian and other languages. The Search the Library's Catalog page allows the user to identify those resources available in other languages.
Some of the resources in this guide are freely available on the Internet while others are subscription-based and are available only to researchers working onsite at the Library of Congress or from another subscribing institution. These databases may be available to you from your local university or research institution—please inquire within.
Please send research questions within the scope of this guide to librarians in the Business Section. For other questions on Ukraine and the Library of Congress's Ukrainian collections, please send questions to the librarians in the European Reading Room.
The following research guides from other divisions at the Library will be helpful to those who want to explore various aspects of Ukraine’s history and its place in the world.
Part of the Science & Business Reading Room at the Library of Congress, the Business Section is the starting point for conducting research at the Library of Congress in the subject areas of business and economics. Here, reference specialists in specific subject areas of business assist patrons in formulating search strategies and gaining access to the information and materials contained in the Library's rich collections of business and economics materials.
