This publication contains practical advice on best practice for data compilation consistent with the methodological guidelines set out in the UN publication 'International Merchandise Trade Statistics: Concepts and Definitions' (rev. 2, 1998; ISBN 9211614104). These standards have been prepared in accordance with the recommendation of the UN Statistical Committee at its 29th session. Topics covered include: the conceptual and institutional framework; data sources, coverage and classification; data dissemination and exchange.

It reports, for most countries of the world, current data needed in the analysis of problems of international payments and of inflation and deflation, i.e., data on exchange rates, international liquidity, money and banking, interest rates, prices, production, international transactions, government accounts, and national accounts. Information is presented in country tables and in tables of area and world aggregates. The IMF also publishes an annual version, International Financial Statistics Yearbook."

This reliable and up-to-date source of OECD quarterly balance of payments and international merchandise trade statistics provides a detailed insight into the most recent trends in trading patterns for OECD countries with the rest of the world. Balance of payments data are presented adjusted for seasonal variations. International trade data are broken down by country. The series shown cover data for the last ten quarters and two years available. This quarterly publication is divided into three parts: I. Balance of payments and international trade, II. International merchandise trade by country and III. International trade in services (annual data). The third part is a special topic which changes with each publication.--

The World Trade Statistical Review provides a detailed analysis of the latest developments in world trade. It will be produced on an annual basis and replaces International Trade Statistics, the WTO's former annual statistical publication.
