The fundamental purpose of the NPS is to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations. The NPS provides highlights, statistics, and a list of national parks for Utah.
Originally published in print form by the University of Utah in celebration of the state’s centennial celebration, the online version includes historical photographs provided by the Utah State Historical Society. The site is now managed by the Utah Education Network-UEN.
The Utah State Archives and Records Service, a division within the Dept. of Administrative Services, provides access to historical government records which have been transferred to our permanent collection. Historical records commonly used include death certificates, land records, legislative bills, court records, and incorporation records. Some records have been scanned as part of our digital collection.
The Utah State Historical Society (USHS) is Utah’s official historical association, under Utah’s Division of State History. The USHS publishes the state’s journal of record, the Utah Historical Quarterly.
